劇中人吳高傲，江湖上人稱吳大俠(吳耀明飾)，復有「十八區Bill Gates」雅號，為人低調，閱歷甚深，對人對事有獨特見解，開設的涼茶舖涼心堂歷史悠久，閒來喜教人飲食養生以至藥膳之道，同時熱心捐獻，宣揚善舉，間中出現涼茶餔，總有不少智者之言。 吳大俠的師妹包笑容(鮑起靜飾) 為涼心堂店長，笑容的大姑奶高加索GoGo姐(吳浣妤飾) 為唯一店員。笑容育有一女兒高麗麗 Viann Ko (梁慧恩飾) 及一個兒子高耀祖JoeKo，諧音「糟糕」(于天龍飾)。笑容丈夫早逝，需挑起家庭生活重擔，幸而她生性豁達，仍可從容面對，更以積極人生態度鼓勵其他人。 店內熟客之一，為背景神秘、通黑白道的 B 哥(何守信飾)，向來對笑容有好感，但又輕描淡寫，只是每當笑容身邊有男人向其表示好感，B 哥都不自覺的出盡法寶破壞之，例如鬥食好野，可以一個電話請到利苑總廚即來幫忙，因此大勝對手，但之後又似對笑容沒有下文，如常生活。 小葯房的老闆何克炭(姜皓文飾) 及其店員甘金 CashKam (古卓文飾)，前者忠誠老實經營街坊小生意，後者滿腦子都是賺快錢的鬼主意。這兩個既有矛盾、但又某程度唇齒相依的小老闆與小店員，當面對加租迫遷壓力時，二人無論如何也得艱苦撐下去，當面對金錢利益時，二人又難免有些茶杯裏的風波。 還有充滿理想、一直想爭得新聞界最高榮譽「普立茲獎」的報館記者劉亞朗(袁文傑飾)，與其從事地產代理的事業型女友梁晶晶 (呂晶晶飾)，經歷幾番風雨，好事多磨，以為有情人終成眷屬，半途又殺出何克炭與晶晶舊情復熾，發展出一段三角戀。 此外，少女錢依晨 (DaDa飾) 誤打誤撞，攀上o靚模之列，但她又得面對家庭壓力及世俗眼光。因其母錢太 (黎燕姍飾) 是自命上等人的中小富階層，看不起所有低下層，有其既得利益者的狹獈角度與觀點，她們還有個遠房親戚錢老太 (陳麗雲飾)，是附近居住的孤獨老人，但與錢太幾乎不相往來。 李鼎，鼎叔 (凌文海飾) 為替更司機，的士、小巴、中港貨車皆可，與其子李政 (伍偉樂飾)，同樣憤世嫉俗，整天高喊爭取這個、反對那個，只是父為憤怒中年，子為八十後年輕人。李政任職街頭電訊推銷員，每天面對很多不平事，與其父同樣為低下階層代表，希望以其鋤強扶弱的理想，為基層發聲，爭取公義。人物概括老中青三代，並以青年、中年為主，他們處身涼心堂，就如整個社會的縮影。無論是好新聞或壞新聞，無論最終如何結局，無論感情與事業有任何困阻，只要保持勇往直前的香港GoGoGo精神，辦法總比困難多，明天會更好。
